With the New Year just two weeks away, the Illinois Pirate Party is excited to announce new changes to the bylaws and structure of the party set to begin in 2025.
Chapters are expanding and getting more local. The Illinois Pirate Party previous had five chapters, however this will be expanded to twelve. The changes can be seen reflected below. Please reference the map to see which chapter you belong to:

The Chicagoland Pirate Party, previously considered a chapter, will now be the official party of the Cook County, DuPage County, Fox Valley and Kankakee Valley chapters. These four are still considered chapters of the Illinois Pirate Party, but shall run under “Chicagoland Pirate Party” in local elections and organization efforts.
Meetings for the Illinois Pirate Party shall now take place on the first Sunday of each month at 7pmCT. Meetings shall be held over Jitsi, with chapter members able to meet in-person and join via Jitsi if desired. Members will be encouraged to organize locally for meetings, join in for Illinois Pirate Party business over Jitsi, and use the opportunity to plan, organize and fraternize while in-person.
The captain of the Illinois Pirate Party will now be required to organize an in-person chapter meeting every month, amounting to each of the twelve chapters getting a month where the meeting on the first Sunday of the month is hosted by the Captain in their jurisdiction. Announcements will be made where the captain shall appear during the monthly meeting no later than a week prior to the first meeting of the month.
The January in-person meeting with Captain “Jolly Mitch” in attendance shall take place in the Cook County chapter. A Facebook event will be created for those interested in attending. Location TBA but will be announced no later than Sunday, December 29th 2024. UPDATE: The meeting will be held at Rock Island Public House at 13328 Olde Western Ave in Blue Island, IL.
Chicagoland Pirate Party chapters will have additional meetings ever third Sunday of the month at 7pmCT. Meetings shall be held over Jitsi. Likewise, as stated before, members will be encouraged to organize live meetings while joining into Jitsi for these meetings.
We are excited to see what 2025 has in store. Our first ILPP meeting of will take place on January 5th 2025 over Jitsi with members encouraged to organize in person. The Jitsi link shall be posted in the ILPP Discord the day of the meeting.
